Arlington National Cemetery Event Photos - Wreath Laying Event

I have never been so honored to photograph an event, until I photographed a wreath laying event at the Arlington National Cemetary. This was so amazing! I simply could not have been more honored, and lucky, to have been granted access to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier press pit. Unbelievable!

“Laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has long been a way for individuals and organizations to honor the sacrifices of American service members. Presidents, politicians, public figures and foreign dignitaries have all paid their respects in this way.”

When Merck’s Veterans Leadership Network reached out to me, I was super excited about the opportunity. Like this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Unfortunately though, I had to wait a few months. But this actually worked out better because the weather that day was so perfect! It could not have been more perfect! The lighting was perfect, the temperature was perfect, the season was perfect—I was in heaven!

The day of the photoshoot I was so excited, I showed up a little early to make sure I could find parking and get to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on time. After talking to a few people, I learned that I would be let into the press pit! Oh my gosh! The smile on my face was huge! As I got into the press pit, everyone’s eyes were now on me! Like who is this? How did he get in there? And when are they going to throw him out haha? So yes, I was a little nervous because I had about 20 cellphone cameras pointed right at me! But nonetheless, I was so excited to start shooting!

I cannot thank the Merck team enough for letting me capture this once-in-a-lifetime event! Thank you thank you!
