When Chris reached out to me to help him with his surprise proposal photos, I was super excited that he wanted to do it at Constitution Gardens. This location is perfect for proposals because it’s not crazy packed like the Lincoln Memorial and some other places. It has a very romantic vibe to it and with the surrounding trees and pond it’s picture perfect.

Of course, there is this one non-romantic thing going on in Washington D.C. on Memorial Weekend! So for the 37th year, thousands of motorcyclists from across the nation will converge on our Nation's capital to once again let it be known that they will never forget. The Rolling to Remember is a massive motorcycle demonstration ride that starts at the Pentagon and rides through Washington, D.C., to raise awareness of the mental health crisis stealing thousands of veterans’ lives a year.

When I parked my car, I walked down to Constitution Avenue, and saw thousands of bikes rolling by. When I found a break, I quickly ran across the street. I was very concerned about the noise of the bikes, but as Chris and his family were making their way to meet me, they finally finished! I was so happy, because I knew this would be a very special moment for Chris and Alexandra. Plus I didn’t want to shout over the noise of the motorcycles.

We started the surprise proposal with some family portraits. Then after a few photos, Chris was finally able to pop the question to Alexandra!

I always feel so honored capturing this very special moment for my clients. It’s so amazing that I’m given this very special honor for such an amazing couple.

Once he popped the question and she said yes, we took some more family photos on the pond and then we finished the shoot at the Reflecting Pool by the Lincoln Memorial.
