DC 4th of July Photos - Washington DC Fourth of July
I love the Fourth of July! It’s my favorite holiday of the year! I love getting together with family and friends to barbecue, laugh, have fun, see a parade, and watch the amazing fireworks show.
For this Fourth of July, it was a little tough because as bad as I wanted to see the most amazing fireworks display in Washington, D.C., I also don’t want to get the coronavirus or if for some reason I do have it that I don’t pass it on to someone else. Well hearing about this being a big year for a big fireworks show I just had to attend (wearing a mask of course).
I’ve been wanting to photograph the DC Fourth of July fireworks show from the Arlington National Cemetery for a few years now so I decided to walk an hour from Ballston to the Netherlands Carillon, which is adjacent to the Arlington National Cemetery which has a majestic view of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building. I got to my spot around 5:30 PM and of course there were around 20 people already there. This is prime real estate so you need to get there early if you want to photograph the fireworks show. Most of the photographers there had their tripods setup ready to go, but unfortunately for some they did not have a very tall tripod. And of course there’s going to be a ton of people standing in front of you. I brought my beautiful and strong ProMediaGear tripod which stands at 77 inches tall; so go ahead and stand in front of me, it’s okay…haha.
Around 6:45 PM a few planes start putting on a really nice airshow for us. Then the last few planes came around to finish the airshow at around 8:00 PM and man those planes are were so impressive! Loved it! So now that we have an hour before the big show, you gotta get setup right and just wait in anticipation. And finally, at around 9:07 PM, we had the most amazing fireworks display I’ve ever seen! Just lock your remote trigger with your camera on continuous shooting and enjoy the show! I loved it!
